COMPOST
“Don’t Panic, it’s Organic”JoBarb Farms Compost is a superb, aged topsoil made with livestock manure, livestock bedding, leaves, and wood chips. Our “black gold” compost is nature’s best way to enrich your lawn, shrubs, flowers, and vegetables. It helps restore the health and beauty of farms, fields, forests, and neighborhoods.
What is Composting?Composting is nature’s way of decomposing and recycling organic material into a humus-rich soil amendment.
How does Compost Benefit the Soil?Compost improves the structure, texture, and aeration of soil, while increasing the soil’s capacity to retain water. Compost loosens clay soils and helps sandy soils keep water. By adding JoBarb Farms Compost to your soil, you will control erosion, promote soil fertility, and stimulate healthy root development in your plants by recycling nutrients back into the soil and plants.
What does Compost Look Like?JoBarb Farms Compost is a dark brown, crumbly, humus-rich topsoil with the sweet aroma of earth.
How do Compost and Mulch Differ?Compost is an organic soil amendment that looks and feels like dark, crumbly soil. Mulch is any material used to protect soil in order to control weeds, retain moisture, and protect plants from extreme temperature changes.
How can You Buy JoBarb Farms Compost? Shop from our serve-yourself wagon at our family farm for bags or buckets of our “black gold” compost. You can also call us to schedule a truck delivery of our compost to your home or business site. (Minimum three-yard quantity per delivery.)
